Srinagar, Apr 14: The Jammu and Kashmir Private Hospitals and Dialysis Centres Association on Tuesday postponed the suspension of services under the Ayushman Bharat–Sehat Scheme, which was scheduled to begin from April 15.
This decision has been taken solely in response to heartfelt requests through media platforms from patients especially those undergoing life-saving dialysis and other critical treatments.
“We understand the fear and anxiety our earlier announcement may have caused to patients and their families. Your health and well-being remain our first priority" said Sandeep Mengi, the association’s President (Jammu region).
The association acknowledges that a portion of the pending payments have started arriving in recent days, and they are grateful for this step by the State Health Agency.
“However, we have every apprehension that only a fraction of the actual amount due will be released, leaving hundreds of crores still pending from as far back as 2021,” Mengi said.
It appealed to the authorities to release the complete outstanding dues in a time-bound manner, so that this uncertainty does not return to burden patients again.
"This partial relief is not sufficient to clear the mounting liabilities toward suppliers, staff salaries, and essential medical consumables,” Mengi said.
The association said they aim to serve people of Jammu & Kashmir with dignity and without interruption.
“We are hopeful that the Government will treat this as a humanitarian priority and ensure the sustainability of the Ayushman Bharat–Sehat Scheme in the Union Territory,” said Dr Masood ul Hassan, General Secretary of the association.
He said they will continue to provide treatment under the Golden Card for now, relying on the goodwill of our staff and suppliers who stand with them in this difficult hour.
The association appealed Chief Minister, Health Minister, the Health department and State Health Agency to release all the pending dues at the earliest. “Without timely payments, sustaining services will become impossible beyond the coming days.”
